Project Wonderland -

13.11.2014

INFIGO IS, in partnership with the Polytechnic of Međimurje in Čakovec, has signed a contract on 17 October 2014 about financing a scientific project named “Wearable system of extended reality in outer space for enrichment of touristic content“, shortly named "Project Wonderland". The project is financed as part of the project “Strengthening the capacity for research, development and innovation” by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, and within the operational program Regional Competitiveness 2007-2013.

The aim of the project „Wearable system of extended reality in outer space for enrichment of touristic content“ is to develop an experimental wearable system of extended reality in outer open space, applicable in several different industries (property and persons safety, transport, fun industry, tourism…). Within the project, 6 new work places will be open for experts in accounting and programming who will gain invaluable experience for their further professional development.

The results of the project will be realized during a 15-month period of project implementation. This will be the system composed of an upgraded helmet for virtual reality and additional equipment for precise positioning of a person in space and defining her orientation (in 3 translation and 3 rotation degrees of freedom). An upgraded helmet for virtual reality, in combination with additional equipment for precise positioning, will enable the person (who wears it) to extend her visible reality by computer generated 3D objects located in her environment. The project is added onto several current scientific – research areas (sensor fusion applied in the systems of virtual/extended reality, precise positioning in outer space with the help of earth infrastructure), as well as on several products in scientific – research phase with expected commercialization in 1 - 3 years.

As part of this project, the results of the research will enable the research team members (and other project team members as well as other members of scientific community in Croatia and from abroad) to publish more internationally relevant scientific papers from different areas.

More details about the project (shortly called Project Wonderland) can be found on the web page  www.projectwonderland.eu.
