Database security

The problem

Databases often contain great deal of confidential or private information, therefore presenting very valuable asset for an organization. It is important achieve a high level of database security to protect the data from malicious activities.

A large number of vulnerabilities are found on a daily basis in most commercial and open source databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle etc.). These are often overlooked by the database administrator, while malicious third parties pay close attention in discovering new vulnerabilities which can help them achieving unauthorized access.

Service

Database security assessment consists of a series of controlled and verified tests which are performed to discover vulnerabilities in databases and applications that access them. Since different databases solutions contain specific vulnerabilities, the testing methodology will depend on the database being tested.

Considering that databases containing private information are intended for internal use, tests are commonly performed on private networks, although this can be altered depending on the assessment.
The business which is increasingly dependent on the Internet through various online applications and services (online shops, Internet banking, etc.), requires even more testing to ensure a high level of database security.

Benefit

Through Database security assessment, INFIGO IS offers an insight to the current level of security of the tested system, with detailed information of identified vulnerabilities, along with recommendations for their removal.

Results of the performed tests can be used for raising change requests, which should solve detected security drawbacks and increase the overall system security level. This also provides the business with information of all discovered security vulnerabilities and will allow mitigation of the risk. Specialized consultations with detailed recommendations, guidelines and examples of best practice are available.
